You take me there

by Patrick Catanzariti

One touch from her is so powerful,
It sends me far away.
Straight onto a calm grassy field,
On a sunny summer’s day.

A subtle breeze slides across my back,
Moves through my every pore.
So soothing and entrancing,
Right to my very core.

The scent of a field of flowers,
Calmly makes its own advance.
The aroma drifts around me,
In a slow but soothing dance.

Wind slides through my hair,
Each strand tingling just so.
Goosebumps rise up on my skin,
Like bubbles with nowhere to go.

I yearn for relief upon my lips,
Soon they feel a soft caress.
I feel the sun’s warmth bottled up,
Rising within my chest.

My mind, body and spirit,
So alive now, so awake.
Blood rushes through my every vein,
The grassy ground begins to shake.

My heart pounds like a drum,
In rhythm with each tremor.
Exhilaration takes control,
I must give in and surrender.

The sky explodes with colour,
The field, it comes alive.
Every flower bursts with fragrance,
Every sight revitalised.

Then silence befalls the land,
Night overtakes the day.
The wind slows to a stop,
This world then falls away.

It becomes all but a memory,
My experience so hard to explain.
I’m back for now until her touch,
Sends me back there once again.

Inspired by a special someone. It was my attempt at capturing my own emotions into a piece of writing focused on the senses.
