Rollercoaster

by Patrick Catanzariti

Every item has its place,
Every horse a long face,
Every car a steering wheel,
Every achilles has his heel.

Every psycho has a crack,
Every mechanic has a jack.
Every legend has a story,
Every slasher’s a bit gory.

Then once in a while,
Something new arrives to make you smile.
A new friend, a new girl to love,
New opportunities fitting like a glove.

The rollercoaster of life hits the peak,
As it rattles down, your legs go weak.
The thrill, the excitement all around,
Too scary, too fast to try looking down.

Time goes by faster than light,
You feel a mix of fear and delight.
Hold onto that rail, scream like mad,
Cherish each jolt and rush you’ll have.

Every lecturer has his talk,
Every blackboard has its chalk.
Every music its own sound,
Every circus has its clown.

Every forest has its trees,
Every honey has its bees.
Every pizza has its cook,
Every author has a book.

Then something new comes around,
That friend, the girl making your heart pound.
Life hits that interesting new path,
You start to see the greener grass.

The rollercoaster of life hits the peak,
As it rattles down, your legs go weak.
The thrill, the excitement all around,
Too scary, too fast to try looking down.

Time goes by faster than light,
You feel a mix of fear and delight.
Hold onto that rail, scream like mad,
Cherish each jolt and rush you’ll have.

Of course, there’s chance of injury,
The worst scenario there could be.
The coaster could come crashing down,
Bursting into flames, nobody found.

Maybe you won’t survive the ride,
There’s not a lot you can decide.
You’re on there now, so hold on tight,
Hope that everything goes right.

Every show has its star,
Every driver has his car.
Every hyena has a laugh,
Every stat has its own graph.

Every winter has its rain,
Every asylum has its insane.
Every shoe has a sole,
Every cereal has a bowl.

Then something new strolls right in,
That friend, the girl making your mind spin.
Reality moves closer to your dream,
Excitement bursts at every seam.

The rollercoaster of life hits the peak,
As it rattles down, your legs go weak.
The thrill, the excitement all around,
Too scary, too fast to try looking down.

Time goes by faster than light,
You feel a mix of fear and delight.
Hold onto that rail, scream like mad,
Cherish each jolt and rush you’ll have.

A poem about those rollercoaster moments in life.
