Anger

by Patrick Catanzariti

Inner rage building inside,
Nowhere to hide.
It’s going to take control,
Deep within your soul.

You feel cheated,
You’ve been mistreated.
Almost defeated,
But not depleted.

There’s an inner power,
Comes from anger’s shower.
Adrenalin pours through,
You’re born anew.

You feel used,
Even abused.
You’re not amused,
This can’t be defused.

It’s so strong in there,
You don’t care.
Give each day,
Then be treated this way?

So enraged,
This can’t be staged.
Something’s changed,
Can’t be disengaged.

Your body’s thrilled,
Every good bone chilled.
The mind wants more,
Anger’s deep inside your core.

Something’s breaked,
Pain can’t be shaked,
The hurt is just so great,
This can’t be faked.

You kick the floor,
Slam that door.
Smash the wall,
Let everything fall.

Nobody deserves this,
It’s like a deceitful kiss.
Why love and care,
When it’s not shared.

Hurt blinds your eyes,
Tears swell and rise,
It grows to such a size,
Every part inside you cries.

Scream, yell, be annoyed,
It’s one thing you can enjoy.
Then with one massive throw,
Let everything go.

Reading this back, it's definitely one of my more negative and emotional poems. Tried to represent what it's like to be really angry, to feel completely let down by someone, to feel wronged.
